2009-2010 Mazda5 Recalled

Mazda is recalling about 16,200 Mazda5 vans from the 2009-2010 model year for a defective fuel pump.
Kicking Tires explains,“In the affected vehicles, the fuel pump’s harness connector pin may become corroded from water that wasn’t removed completely before vehicle assembly. This could cause the connector pin to break, causing the engine to stall and increasing the risk of a crash.”
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says, “This could lead to an inoperative fuel pump, engine stall and the inability to restart the engine increasing the risk of a crash.” To date, there have no reports of injuries or crashes.
The affected vehicles were built between June 29, 2009 and April 28, 2010. The recall will begin on December 11.
Dealers will check the fuel pump connector, and if necessary, replace it for free. Mazda5 owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. You can also contact NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
