2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Pricing Released
Hyundai is impressing the automotive industry. It released the 2011 Hyundai Elantra earlier this year, and next month, the automaker releases the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, which will be one of the cheapest midsize hybrids on the market.
The “Sonata Hybrid offers something new to the mid-size sedan segment, with its segment-leading 40-mpg highway fuel economy rating, differentiated appearance, and incredible value,” John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president and CEO, states in a press release.
The Hyundai Sonata hybrid has one trim, “and it will start at $25,795, excluding a $750 destination charge,” says USA Today. “The base trim comes standard with 16-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlight accents, LED taillights, front fog lights, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, push-button start, remote keyless entry, dual automatic climate control and a 4.2-inch LCD screen in the gauge cluster.” The Premium Package adds a sunroof, a navigation system, leather seats and a rear backup camera, bringing the Sonata Hybrid to $30,795. The Sonata Hybrid also gets an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 35/40 mpg city/highway.
Where does the Sonata Hybrid fit in the lineup of other hybrids? First, it’s cheaper than the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Ford Fusion Hybrid, which start at $26,575 and $28,240, respectively. The Sonata Hybrid’s fuel economy ratings are also on par with the Fusion Hybrid, which gets 41/36 mpg city/highway, and tops the Camry Hybrid, which only averages 31/35 mpg city/highway.
The Toyota Prius is a member of the competition too. “The Toyota Prius technically is a midsize vehicle,” Kicking Tires explains, “and it’s cheaper and more fuel efficient than the Sonata Hybrid at 50 mpg combined and $21,650 — but that vehicle is smaller nonetheless.” Kicking Tires is right. The Prius does top the Sonata Hybrid in terms of price and fuel economy, but the Sonata Hybrid stands out because it’s roomy. In that respect, the Sonata Hybrid provides a complete package. It’s spacious, affordable and fuel-efficient, making it a perfect combination for earth-concious families on a budget.
The 2011 Sonata Hybrid goes on sale in January.
