Daily Auto News And The Oscar Goes to the Tesla Roadster — Again and Again
Daily Auto News

The newest star at this year’s Oscars will weigh 2,500 lbs. This one’s famous, though, for what it doesn’t eat – gasoline. It’s the all-electric Tesla roadster.
Edmunds Inside Line reports, “The buzz throughout Hollywood is that such megastars as Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt may be driving their Teslas to the Oscar ceremony.” The little Tesla Roadster may even drive home with an Oscar inside, since Pitt has been nominated for a best actor award for his performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
At least one automaker is hoping the electric sports cars don’t win too much attention. Inside Line reports that “Audi of America will use the glitzy platform of Sunday’s Academy Awards to launch its Q5 advertising,” and probably doesn’t want to be upstaged by Tesla’s party crashing.
Autoblog Green notes, “It’s no secret that a bunch of celebrities and otherwise very well off individuals have purchased Tesla Roadsters, and Rachel Konrad, senior communications manager at Tesla Motors, has said that many of these well-known owners are also advocates of the brand.”
Tesla, however, would not confirm or deny the reports – the company is famously protective of the identity of its high-profile customers.
