Hot on the heels of the Nissan Leaf’s good-for-the-planet EV technology, Nissan has announced some good-for-you technology coming on its future cars.
“Within the next two to three years, new Nissans will come with anti-collision radar technology; comfy “easy chair” seats designed by NASA, which are intended to improve blood flow; and air conditioners that spritz passengers with vitamin C, which helps prevent skin damage and wrinkles,” reports Popular Science.
The goal of the coddling interior is to combat the idea that being in a car is bad for you. The Sydney Morning Herald calls the technology, “a riposte to those who think a reliance on cars is unhealthy,” and adds that Nissan is “also looking to install ‘friendly’ speedometers that can further improve the in-car atmosphere with timely reminders of wedding anniversary dates or birthdays, in the event the driver forgets.”
Nissan hasn’t given an exact date for the release of the new technology, or said what models it will be available on. However, it’s not entirely shocking that Nissan’s creating a vitamin infused HVAC system for its cars. After all, Infiniti, Nissan’s luxury brand, has a Forest Air feature in the 2011 Infiniti M sedan. The system works to relax the driver and enhance the driving experienced by piping subtle scents into the cabin. Infiniti also says the system works to keep unpleasant scents from entering the car.
