The luxury British marque is fitting a bespoke version of Bang & Olufsen’s advanced hi-fi into its DBS supercar.
And the Danish audio firm has spared no expense devising a 13-speaker system which includes two tweeters that rise from the dashboard when the hi-fi is turned on. The stereo, which now comes as standard on the DBS, also features a thunderous 200mm subwoofer mounted under the rear seats and two 140mm woofers either side of the centre console.
Other novel features include sound balancing that switches from ‘front’ to ‘driver only’ depending on whether the front passenger seatbelt is engaged. And proving that this stereo is as much about visual drama as aural perfection, the mid-range speakers sit behind curving aluminium panels fitted to the door tops. The system also works in conjunction with Aston’s own integrated head unit, meaning iPods can still be docked as before.
The hi-fi will also be available as an option for the DB9 later in the year, with deliveries starting early in 2009. No prices have yet been released.
