Automakers Gear Up for Presidents' Day Weekend

It’s the start of Presidents’ Day Weekend, and automakers are getting ready to celebrate, offering impressive incentives to go along with the extra day off. But how much can new car shoppers expect to save? “Presidents’ Day is a popular weekend for car buyers and the average savings can exceed seven percent,” said Jesse Toprak, VP of Industry Trends and Insights for TrueCar.com. “Discounts will be available on most models but consumers should research the best possible price before hitting the dealership lots.&rdquo.
Some of the best deals on new car lots may be on remaining 2010 models, though getting last year’s model equipped the way you want could be difficult. “Finding 2010s in a color and trim level that you want may be a challenge, but there are still a few out there,” writes Consumer Reports. “Of course, now that we’re in the 2011 calendar year and months into the 2011 model year, any 2010 car has depreciated significantly and the purchase price needs to reflect that, or you’ll lose out when it comes time to trade in.”
Despite dealer needs to blowout remaining 2010’s, TrueCar.com reports that consumers may be able to save up to 26 percent off of MSRP on 2011 models. Examples include the 2011 Nissan Titan, with an estimated net price of $20,343. That’s $7,147 less than MSRP.
