Bentley Continental V8 revealed First pictures of V8-engined Continental GT coupe and GTC convertible released ahead of the Detroit show next month
Bentley has revealed first pictures and details of its all-new V8-engined Continental GT coupe and GTC convertible, which will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
Both models will be fitted with a new twin turbocharged 4.0-litre 500bhp engine – which Bentley says delivers a 40 per cent improvement in fuel economy.

They will also wear red enamelled Bentley badges, previously used only on performance-tuned ‘Red Label’ cars. The flagship W12 edition will continue to be sold, and will focus on unrivalled comfort and refinement.
Developed in partnership with Audi, the new engine includes a cylinder management system that shuts down four of the eight cylinders at cruising speeds.
A new eight-speed automatic gearbox drives all four wheels, while stop-start also helps to cut fuel consumption. Official figures are yet to be released, but expect fuel economy of around 25mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 265g/km. Performance is strong, with a 0-60mph time of less than five seconds and a 180mph top speed.
Styling tweaks include distinctive exhaust tailpipes, shaped in a figure of eight, and a black gloss matrix grille, with a chrome frame and centre bar.
Both the coupe and cabriolet have 20-inch alloys fitted as standard, while 21-inch wheels are available as an option, which for the first time can be finished in black. The six-spoke design is exclusive to the V8 car.
Inside, there’s a new cloth headlining, dark eucalyptus wood veneers and optional two-tone leather. The coupe will offer a choice of seven exterior and four interior colours, while three different hood shades will be available.
Prices will start at around £120,000, with order books opening in January.
