BMW i8 stars in new film trailer – BMW i8 stars in new film trailer BMW’s new hybrid supercar gets its first starring role with a snap appearance in a teaser trailer for Mission Impossible 4
The BMW i8 might not be arriving until 2013, but we’ll see it in action much sooner than that thanks to its starring role in the next Mission Impossible film, Ghost Protocol.
It’s a step change for the franchise, which featured an orange Lamborghini Gallardo in its last installment, but the i8 should still provide plenty of pace for those all important chase sequences.

Revealed in this newly released trailer for the film, the i8 features a revolutionary 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo engine with 217bhp, working in tandem with an electric motor at the rear to give a combined power output of 345bhp, good for a 0-62mph sprint in just 4.6 seconds.
Yet despite this turn of pace, it will still return over 100mpg and emits just 66g/km of C02. One of BMW’s more conventional models, the 6 Series Convertible, will also feature in the movie but the trailer seems to show it being involved in a nasty head-on crash.
The film, which stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner, will be released later on this year, and will mark the start of a major PR campaign by BMW to publicise it’s new ‘i’ subbrand.
