If you’ve been a big fan of the retro-inspired Chevrolet Camaro, but always wanted the wind in your hair, Chevrolet has just what you’re looking for: the Camaro Convertible. Set to drop its top at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, Chevrolet recently showed off initial images of the production vehicle on its Facebook page.

Although details remain ambiguous, Chevrolet says, “The 21st century rebirth of the Chevrolet Camaro will open a new chapter and let the sun shine in when the Convertible hits the scene in early 2011.”

Autoblog writes, “The somewhat small images posted on Facebook give us our first view of the drop-top pony car with its canvas roof in place, but other than that, the ‘vert is exactly what you’ve come to expect.” That’s because the Camaro Convertible will be available with the same V6 and V8 motors that produce between 312 and 426 horsepower, respectively.

You can expect “[t]he Camaro will hit dealerships with a price tag of $30,000,” including a $850 destination fee, according to Motor Trend. The magazine also points out, “By comparison, base Camaro coupes list at $23,530 — a difference of more than $6000.”

If you’ve been waiting for a convertible muscle car other than the Ford Mustang, Chevy’s got your fix. But if you don’t have an extra $6,000, the Ford Mustang Convertible has a base price of $27,995 including destination charges. Not only is it a steal, it’s a great car too.
