Chevrolet Recalls 2009 to 2010 Impala

Chevrolet has issued a recall for Impala sedans from the 2009 and 2010 model years.
General Motors, Chevrolet’s parent company, writes that they are “recalling 322.409 Chevrolet Impalas from the 2009 and 2010 model years to inspect for a small number of vehicles whose front seat belt webbing may not have been properly secured to the lap belt anchor pretensioner mounted to the side of the seat nearest the door.”
According to Left Lane News, only a fraction of the recalled Impalas are “actually afflicted with the improper anchoring, but that it will inspect all 322,409 2009 and 2010 Impalas just to be safe.”
“GM has had 32 reported cases of seat belt anchors separating from the anchors, but no injuries or fatalities due to the condition have been reported,” writes Kicking Tires.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says, “dealers will inspect both front safety belts for proper installation of the anchors to the pretensioners and, if necessary, reinstall the anchors.”
Chevrolet will notify vehicle owners by mail around October 25 if their car is affected. All repair work done in relation to the recall will be free for Impala owners. If you have an Impala, keep an eye on your mail to see if your car is affected. If it is, take it to your dealer for repairs. If you have questions, you can call Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or visit GM’s owner center. You can get your questions about this, or any other NHTSA recall, answered by calling NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or visiting safercar.gov.
