Chevrolet Volt Pricing Announced

Posted by – July 28, 2010

After countless months of teasing, General Motors finally announced pricing today on the highly anticipated Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle.

Starting at $41,000, base Volt’s will be well equipped and include, “standard navigation with a seven-inch screen, an eight-year/100,000 mile battery warranty, Bluetooth connectivity, Bose audio system and five years of OnStar service included,” says Autoblog. “The OnStar service, which includes turn-by-turn directions and mobile applications, normally costs $300 per year. The only available options for the Volt are heated leather seats, chrome wheels, three premium paint colors and rear park assist.”

A fully optioned Volt will set you back $44,600.

The prices announced do not include the federal tax credit worth up to $7,500 that would essentially lower the base price of the Volt to $33,500.

GM also announced a lease deal on the Volt, “for three years at $2,500 down and $350 a month,” reports The Detroit Free Press.

The lease deal, however, is only applicable to buyers in the initial roll-out markets. “The Volt initially will be sold late this year in Michigan, California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Texas and Washington, D.C., before a national rollout 12 to 18 months later,” says The Detroit News.

While the first Volts will be limited to dealers in those markets, buyers from all over the country are eligible to purchase the vehicle. “A buyer who lives in another state can order a Volt from a dealer in one of the launch markets but will have to travel to that state to pick up the vehicle,” finds The Detroit News.

Autoblog reports that the Volt will go on sale in December and that, “Within a year or two as production ramps up, GM will begin offering the Volt with less content and a lower price point.”
