Citroen C4 Aircross Citroen adds a stylish crossover to its C4 family and we have the first pictures
Revealed in these official pictures, the Citroen C4 Aircross joins the C4 and DS4 hatchbacks, as well as the C4 Picasso and Grand Picasso MPVs, and caters for those customers looking for a little extra room and some off-road ability.

Based on the Mitsubishi ASX, the Aircross will take on rivals such as the VW Tiguan and Nissan Qashqai. The entry level model will feature front-wheel drive only, whereas all other versions will be fitted with a clever switchable four-wheel drive system.

A small toggle behind the gear lever allows the driver to select one of three modes. A two-wheel drive setting is designed to maximise fuel consumption during normal on-road conditions, a four-wheel drive setting juggles torque between the front and rear axles for maximum traction and a third mode locks both axles for coping with more severe off-road situations.

With its rounded front end, bonnet edge that merges seamlessly with the slim grille and stepped taillights, the Aircross has plenty in common with the C4 and DS4. Its vertical LED running lights will give it a unique look in your rear-view mirror, while the partially blacked-out C-pillars are a cue taken from the DS5.

On the inside there’s space for five and a 442-litre boot – 83-litres more than the DS4. A large panoramic glass roof heightens the sense of space and is illuminated at night by integrated  LED lights.

Engine choices include 113bhp 1.6-litre and 148bhp 2.0-litre petrol engines, while 108bhp 1.6-litre HDi and 148bhp 1.8-litre HDi engines complete the range.

It’s too early to name prices, but based on the Mitsubishi ASX expect an entry-level model to cost around £16,000 when the Aircross goes on sale in the second half of 2012.
