Ford Motor Company has announced a unique approach to luring potential car buyers into the showroom: an appeal to your charitable side.

Autoblog reports, “Ford is making the most of having a little bit of extra fat during these lean times by sharing its fortune with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. If you test drive a Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury before June 1, Ford will give $20 to the foundation, up to $1,000,000.” You can designate a local Komen affiliate to receive your donation.

In a press release announcing the new program, Ford explains that customers interested in test-driving a Ford and earning a donation for the Foundation should log on to to register and receive a registration number: “After visiting a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury dealership and test driving a vehicle, dealers will provide customers with a registration code. Customers visit again to input the registration code, validating their form, and activating the donation by Ford in their name.” Those who want to participate can also obtain a registration number at any Komen Race for the Cure event through June 1. Dealers can match the contribution up to $1,000.

Those seriously committed to the cause might want to note that Ford still has not sold out of the special edition 2009 Warriors in Pink Mustang, available as a coupe or convertible and complete with pink racing stripes, ribbon badges and charcoal seats with contrasting pink stitching. Ford donates $500 to the Komen Foundation for each Warriors in Pink Mustang sold.
