International enjoyed quite a hit in this once-profitable niche in the five minutes before wars, gas prices, and the economy did away with these HUMMER-trumping trucks. The vehicles, approaching the size of commercial tractor-trailers, retailed beginning at $90,000, and average bluechip dividends just aren’t able to purchase such fun toys anymore. Or the diesel to run them. Or the parking lot driveway long enough to park them.

But don’t worry about International’s future – your taxes should ensure that company’s liquidity for some time to come. Congress has ordered 10,000 MRAPs (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles) at a cost of over $500,000 each, and on January 2nd, International proudly marked the 1,000th MaxxPro MRAP to roll of the line. It would take that many MRAPs…maybe more…to break down the ego otherwise known as Ahmadinejad.–Colin Mathews
