Jaguar XKR-S to Debut at Geneva Motor Show

The iconic Jaguar E-Type was launched 50 years ago in 1961. Now, Jaguar is commemorating the E-Type’s golden anniversary by bringing the new Jaguar XKR-S to Geneva. “The XKR-S is a bold and exciting new model for Jaguar,” said Jaguar’s Adrian Hallmark in a press release. “We expect to attract both loyal and new Jaguar driving enthusiasts who still want the comfort, opulence and class only a Jaguar can offer, combined with inspirational performance.&rdquo.
And performance is definitely at the forefront. “The uprated and upgraded XKR-S is so powerful in fact, it marks the fastest production Jaguar ever built, boasting 550 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque, which blasts this coupe from a dead stop to 60 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds,” writes Left Lane News. “Equally impressive, the XKR-S will continue from 60 to 100 mph in just 4.4 more seconds, and continue on to a top speed of 186 mph.”
Despite the impressive performance specs, Jaguar is keeping most of the details under wraps at this point. Autoblog notes that, “We can only assume Jaguar is sticking with the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 as a motivational tool because the full details won’t be unveiled until next week’s shindig in Switzerland.” More detailed information on the XKR-S will likely be available when Jaguar launches the new model March 1st, in Geneva.
