Daily Auto News KFC to Fill Potholes in Five Cities
Daily Auto News

Tired of that giant pothole you hit every day on the way to work that splashes your coffee and threatens to force you to pay for a wheel alignment? Call the Colonel. He’s not giving up chicken, but he is making time for roadwork.
The advertising business site BrandWeek reports, “Kentucky Fried Chicken today announced its own urban renewal program. The chicken chain has offered to fill up the potholes in five major U.S. cities to promote its ‘fresh’ brand positioning.”
The company will start with the city that houses its headquarters — Louisville, Kentucky. The other four cities will be chosen later. Kicking Tires explains, “KFC is asking U.S. mayors to nominate their cities to have their potholes filled, with KFC branding in nonpermanent street chalk saying ‘Refreshed by KFC.’”
Autoblog comments, “We agree that pothole patching is a nice public service for motorists everywhere, but we’re struggling with KFC’s marketing message. Somehow slapping a couple shovels of asphalt on a beat up, worn out street doesn’t make us think of fresh chicken. It makes us think of heat lamps and microwaves.”
