Auto news; KTM has big plans for Geneva Austrian firm planning two new concepts and two new variants of the X-Bow
Just over a year after launching the X-Bow – its first effort at a four-wheeled vehicle – Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM is readying not one, but four new models for Geneva! It was always the firm’s plan to expand the range and compete with the likes of Lotus – and the success of its carbon-fibre clad X-Bow has had KTM engineers working over time.
It’s been confirmed that two brand new concepts will break cover at the show – and although no official details or images have been given, it’s understood that one will be a two-seater city-car while the other is an all-wheel-drive off roader. Possibly inspired by the KTM AX pictured on the right (an Austrian student’s design project), KTM plans to campaign the 4×4 in next year’s Dakar rally.
The other two newcomers are likely to be variations on the existing X-Bow. One with an even more powerful 330bhp version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine borrowed from the Audi S3, while the other could feature a roof and doors for better everyday usability.
Watch this space for more details on KTM’s extending family, when we report live from the Geneva show on March 3.
