Land Rover reveals updated 2012 models – Land Rover reveals updated 2012 models More power, greater efficiency and a new eight-speed gearbox are among the updates for the 2012 Discovery and Range Rover Sport
Land Rover has announced a host of modifications for its 2012 Range Rover Sport and Discovery 4 models.
The revisions focus on luxury and economy, with changes including a new 256bhp 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine in both models, returning an average fuel economy of 32.1mpg and 230g/km of CO2 – that’s 11bhp more than its predecessor while emissions have improved by 113g/km.
There’s a new more-efficient eight-speed ZF gearbox, also used by Jaguar and BMW, which allows paddle-shift gearchanges in manual mode.
Â
A greater range of interior trim choices will be available in the new Range Rover Sport as well as a revolutionary ‘dual-view’ touch screen, allowing passengers to enjoy music and movies whilst the driver views the high-tech satellite navigation system.
Â
Both models will benefit from a new ‘WhiteFire’ wireless technology, which delivers audio to passengers via wireless headphones, plus there’s a 17-speaker Harman Kardon LOGIC 7 audio system, and a ‘Say What You See’ voice command system which will enable the occupants to operate most of the new tech verbally. Entry-level audio and navigation systems on the 2012 Discovery will be compatible with Bluetooth, DAB, USB and will feature iPod connectivity.
Â
Prices start from £37,995 for the new Discovery 4, a £1,215 premium over the current model, while the Range Rover Sport will start at £48,795.
