McLaren starts building customer MP4-12Cs

McLaren starts building customer MP4-12Cs Production of first customer MP4-12C supercar begins at McLaren’s Woking factory.
Despite the multitude of prototype MP4-12C supercars we’ve snapped testing around the world, plus the cars shown at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the first customer car has only just begun construction at McLaren’s HQ in Woking.
The MP4-12C is the first of 1,000 examples that McLaren plans to build in 2011. Most will be manufactured in a new £40m McLaren Production Centre, which is due for completion in May. The factory is located next door to the stunning McLaren Technology Centre, where the first MP4-12Cs will be built.Â
As well as an intensive testing programme, McLaren spent last year taking the MP4-12C around the world to show to prospective customers. The car will be sold from a specially-selected network of 35 dealers, including an exclusive flagship centre in Kensington, London. The MP4-12C retails at £168,500 in the UK.
