Mercedes A-Class spied New 1 Series-rivalling Mercedes A Class to debut at Geneva Motor Show in March
The wraps are coming off the new Mercedes A-Class ahead of its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show next month.Â
The new car takes a completely new format to the outgoing model, and is designed to appeal to a younger audience. Gone are the aged MPV-style lines, replaced with a squat hatch, similar to that of the BMW 1 Series and Audi A3.
Given the lower roofline and longer wheelbase, the new A-Class should be far better to drive, with the rollover memories of the original A-Class a distant memory. The 2012 model will feature an all-new front-wheel-drive set up, mated in some cases to a dual clutch automatic gearbox.
The new A-Class will share the new MFA platform first seen on the B-Class, and is likely to get the same engines too. This will include a number of efficient diesels as well as a 209bhp petrol engine.
