New Audi A3 sketches Audi reveals new pictures of updated A3 family and R8 GT Spyder
Take a look at the first pictures of Audi’s new A3 family! Previously only revealed in concept form as a saloon model at the Geneva Motor Show, Audi has now revealed sketches of the production saloon and three-door hatchback variants.Â
The styling is characterised by Audi’s new face, previously seen on the new A6. That means a set of new angular headlights and a hexagonal grille as well as a pair of large air intakes mounted either side of the front bumper.Â
A bold crease runs the length of the side of the car, along with deeply carved flanks.Â
Audi has also released a sketch of the A3′s new interior which gets an A1-inspired makeover and benefits from Audi’s all-new MMI system. Where the A8 and A7 use a standalone trackpad on which drivers can ‘write’ in sat-nav destinations and telephone numbers, the new system incorporates this into a large scroll wheel mounted in the centre console.Â
The German firm is yet to confirm the saloon model for the UK, and hasn’t showcased a five-door sportback model either. An official unveiling for the new models is still around a year away, with the hatch likely to bow in at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012 and the saloon to follow in Frankfurt.
Along with the A3 sketches, Audi also revealed a Spyder version of the limited edition R8 GT. The hard-top model was limited to 333 models world-wide and it’s likely the soft-top will be just as exclusive. Expect a price tag of around £150,000 when the newcomer goes on sale early next year.
