New Chevrolet Aveo to premiere at Paris The all-new hatch from Chevrolet will be both longer and wider than before, and a new diesel engine joins the line-up.
It’s a budget model bonanza at Chevrolet! Following on from the Orlando MPV and hatchback version of the family-sized Cruze comes the all-new Aveo supermini.
Making its debut at next month’s Paris Motor Show, the five-door keeps the sporty looks of the Aveo RS concept and adds extra appeal with the model’s first diesel engine. Swept-back headlights, the signature Chevrolet double grille and creased metalwork all inject a dash of style, while the rear door handles are hidden in the C-pillar to create the illusion that the car is a sporty three-door rather than a practical five-door model.
The new Aveo is longer and wider than the car it replaces, freeing up more room in the cabin. Boot space is expected to be greater than the 220 litres of the current model, while motorbike-inspired instruments and blue backlit dials help to give it a sporty edge. A stereo with an aux input and Bluetooth phone connectivity are included.
The Aveo features one of the stiffest bodyshells in the small car sector, which should ensure accurate handling and decent refinement. Under the bonnet, there will be a choice of 85bhp 1.2-litre and 99bhp 1.4-litre petrol engines, plus 74bhp and 94bhp versions of a 1.3-litre diesel, which features stop-start. A six-speed automatic gearbox is an option on the 1.4-litre petrol car.
