New Ford engine is off to a flying Start

New Ford engine is off to a flying Start Smaller power unit from Ford, shows American manufacturer is keeping up with the competition.
Fiat isn’t the only manufacturer chopping cylinders off its engines – Ford is at it, too.
The first picture of the 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine from the dramatic Start concept reveals the frugal unit that will power cars up to the Focus.
The new engine delivers sub-100g/km CO2 emissions, but matches the performance of Ford’s 1.6-litre engine thanks to its EcoBoost direct-injection turbo technology. The engine’s compact dimensions allow it to fit into Ford’s smallest models, but it is expected to debut in next year’s new Focus, followed by the Fiesta and forthcoming C-MAX.
The Start was designed by Ford’s California-based design studio to showcase a look for future small Fords. The firm says the car won’t be sold in Europe.
