New Renault Clio spied Latest spy pictures give best glimpse yet of next-generation Renault Clio
Our spies have snapped these pictures of the all-new Renault Clio – the clearest we’ve seen to date.

This lightly disguised mule reveals the defined lines of the new car.  Although the new model is likely to use a revised version of the current car’s platform, the Clio 4 will demonstrate Renault’s future design vision, with a completely new shape front and rear.

With a sharp new nose, the Clio will be lower and wider than the previous-generation model, echoing the design of the all-electric Zoe model which is set for release later this year.

At the back, we’ve noticed the absence of rear door handles – giving the Clio a sportier appearance. In addition, the small rear window and rounded rear end are similar in style to the larger Megane.

The Clio 4 will use the same three-cylinder petrol engine as seen in the current Nissan Micra, as well as a 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel from the Scenic. The range topper will be the Renaultsport Clio, which will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo, eclipsing the current model’s 200bhp.

After Renault dropped a series of models from its UK line-up earlier this month, the new Clio needs to be a huge success for the French brand. Although no release date has been confirmed yet, expect the new Clio to make an appearance at the Paris Motor Show in September.

New Renault Clio spied We get our first look at the new Renault Clio, which promises a sportier design and cleaner engines
We’ve finally snatched our first glimpse of the all-new Renault Clio complete with a DeZir-inspired nose and sporty profile.

Renault has long promised us the next Clio will be lower and wider than the previous model and will borrow heavily from recent concepts like the Frendzy, R-Space and Captur – and these pictures prove it.

Through the heavy camouflage the curvaceous body panels can clearly be seen, while the shapely rear and large tail-lights look almost completely lifted from the R-Space.

According to Renault insiders, the new Clio will get a more luxurious interior, boasting improved materials and – as with the recent concepts – a driver-focused design.

Underneath the bonnet, expect to see a new generation of downsized engines, including the 1.6-litre four-cylinder dCi 130 diesel from the Scenic, providing CO2 emissions of around 109g/km. A three-cylinder 900cc petrol engine with 90bhp will be offered, as will a turbocharged version with 110bhp.

A Renaultsport model will follow the initial release, and is likely to be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo with more than 200bhp.

Expect the new Renault Clio to go on sale early in 2013, with prices starting from around £10,000.

New Renault Clio spied New look Clio shows its face, as car counts down to launch

Here’s a first chance to see the face of things to come from Renault. Although this prototype Clio looks like the third generation car from the rear, if you look closely at the front you’ll spot there are some dramatic differences.

That’s because this car has the fixtures and fittings of the new, fourth-generation Clio and is fitted with the same front bumper and bonnet arrangement that will appear on the production car when it goes on sale in 2012.

You can clearly see the large, V-shaped indentation into which designers are planning to insert a super sized Renault badge, as well as the outline of the boomerang shaped radiator grille.

The newcomer, which will make its world debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show is promising to be better to drive, more daring to look at and cheaper to run.

And while rivals like the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa continue to forge their way to become more sporty, and more upmarket, a Renault insider who spoke to Auto Express has promised the newcomer will not forget its supermini roots – focusing first on offering value for money.

We revealed last week that the new Clio will only be available in five-door trim, and our original scoop illustrations from August 2011 show what drivers can expect to see from the car.

Under the bonnet, the newcomer will offer a range of petrol and diesel engines carried over from the current mode, as well as a new 900cc three cylinder turbo engine from the original R-Space concept car.

With 109bhp and 160nm of torque it promises CO2 emissions of around 95g/km and fuel economy of 76mpg.

There’s still no official  news on plans to replace the hugely popular RenaultSport Clio – though the French firm has not ruled out building a five door version of the car, powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine.
