Beating the morning traffic means more commuters are turning to pedal power – and ultra-compact folding bikes such as this new Strida 5.0 are tailor made for the job. Building on the success of the company’s previous A-frame cycles, the new model adds greater comfort and safety to the mix.
The greaseless Kevlar belt drive has a service life of 50,000 miles, and the silver powder-coated frame should resist rust. Single speed gearing is good for a cruising speed of about 10-12mph – enough for city commuting – and the new bike gets powerful disc brakes for better stopping power.
The design of the frame and seat ensure correct posture is adopted by all users, and the adjustable seat with suspension takes care of comfort. A luggage rack, front and rear LED lights and a bell are all included. The 5.0 can be folded in 10 seconds, and thanks to its compact dimensions (114x23x51cm) will fit in the boot of most cars.
