Peugeot EX1 breaks Nurburgring record Peugeot’s lightweight concept becomes fastest electric car to lap the Nurburgring
Peugeot’s record-breaking electric car is at it again. Having already smashed straight-line speed records for electric vehicles, the EX1 has now become the fastest electric vehicle to set a lap at the Nurburgring.

The official time was 9:01 with an average speed of 85mph. To put that into context a Porsche 911 GT2 RS can cover the same distance in 7:18 and a Vauxhall Corsa VXR completes a lap in 8:54.

The previous record-holder was a race-prepared MINI E fitted with a roll-cage, uprated brakes, tyres and suspension which was driven by ex-DTM race Thomas Jager who put in a 9:52 lap and hit a top speed of 116mph.

The EX1 was built as part of Peugeot’s 200th anniversary celebrations and features two electric motors – one mounted on each axle – to allow for a total of 340bhp and four-wheel drive.
