A California company has come up with an innovative new source of gasoline. Tasty, tasty gasoline. Gasoline that might cloud your judgment, help you put on a few pounds, sure, but hey…we need all the gas we can get these days.
According to Kicking Tires, the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company will soon begin “turning its waste beer into an ethanol fuel. The company announced that it will team up with the company E-Fuel to turn otherwise-unused beer into a useful source of fuel.” The company will “install a machine called the EFuel100 MicroFueler in its breweries. The machine will process 1.6 million gallons of yeast into high-grade ethanol fuel each year.”
Gizmodo asks, “Are we really this hard up for gasoline? Are you absolutely certain that there’s no other way??”
We, however, are a little confused by the term “waste beer.”
This might make a little sense. Kicking Tires reports that Coors does the same thing, and we can see that. But Sierra Nevada? Going to waste? Can’t we turn some Milwaukee’s Best into fuel first? Maybe some PBR or hell, even MGD before we tap the good stuff to power a Ford Festiva?
We could walk more. Seriously…
