Daily Auto News Recall Alert: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
Daily Auto News

Those few lucky enough to be among the first owners of a V8-equipped 2010 Chevy Camaro, GM has some bad news for you. The car has already been recalled, and GM is asking owners not to even drive the vehicle back to the dealership.
In a recall bulletin, GM explains, “GM will be calling customers of sold vehicles and requesting them not to drive their vehicle. [sic] Dealers are to provide customers with courtesy transportation and, if requested, assist with vehicle transport to the dealership.”
The problem relates to the car’s battery cable. In a defect notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM explains, “The positive battery cable may contact the starter motor housing and cause wear on the cable insulation. If the insulation wears through to the cable, it could create a short,” which “could result in a no-start condition, cause the vehicle to stall without the ability to restart, or result in an engine compartment fire.”
The NHTA defect notice says that Chevrolet dealers will reroute the battery cable to provide adequate clearance. Owners should expect a phone call as early as today; however, those who wish to make their own repair arrangements may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438.
