It’s aliiiiive.
The Examiner reports, “Just eight weeks ago, Saab looked like a dead duck, as General Motors was going through the motions of shutting the company down. Then Spyker stepped in an saved the automaker from being relegated to the pages of history. Now, Saab production has officially restarted at its historic Trolhattan, Sweden, assembly plant.”
Autoblog says, “To commemorate the occasion, a number of high-ranking officials took positions along the assembly line, including Saab Automobile CEO Jan Åke Jonsson, Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller and Trollhättan Plant Director Gunnar Brunius.”
The first model off the line, Motor Authority reports, “was the all-new 2010 Saab 9-5 sedan, destined to join a test fleet prior to the model’s official launch later this year. Further down the line was a 9-3 Convertible, now also being produced in Trollhattan as part of the concentration of Saab operations in Sweden. With the introduction of the new 9-5 SportCombi next year, a total of five model lines will be produced at the plant.”
The 2010 9-5 is expected to go on sale in the U.S. sometime before June.
