Toyota to Debut New Prius in Detroit

Although the 2011 Detroit Auto Show is three months away, Toyota is already talking about unveiling a new addition to the Prius family at the event.
According to AutoWeek, “Toyota senior vice president of automotive operations Don Esmond announced the auto-show plans Thursday afternoon at a luncheon in downtown Detroit.”
Esmond didn’t speak about the specifics surrounding the new Prius, but did say that “[i]t’s an all-new model,” reports Autoweek.
However, Toyota’s Twitter account gives a little more information — stating that the “Next member of the Prius family (to be revealed at Detroit Auto Show) will be all-new model w/ more comfort, style and versatility.”
Earlier this week, there was plenty of buzz for the upcoming Prius as Toyota teased its new family member on Facebook. The image doesn’t show much besides an outline of the upcoming Prius addition.
This has automotive blogs scratching their heads. KickingTires writes, “We’re a little surprised the company wouldn’t unveil it at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November because it is typically a hybrid-friendly show with more green reporting.”
If you’re in the market for a hybrid vehicle, you may want to hang on until more details about the all-new, more versatile Prius are unveiled in Detroit this January. Widely regarded as an impressive hybrid, Toyota is looking to expand its Prius into a family of vehicles.
