Toyota to Resume Prius Production in Japan

Toyota to Resume Prius Production in Japan

Concerned hybrid shoppers may be able to rest a little easier, as Toyota plans to resume production. “Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced today that it will resume Japan production Monday of Prius along with the Lexus CT 200h and HS 250h,” says Toyota in a press release.

There could still be issues with parts availability. “A trickle of key products, such as the Toyota Prius, is starting to come out of Japan — but the key question is whether suppliers will be able to keep parts coming,” says Edmunds correspondent, Anita Lienert.

Not all of the automaker’s plants are ready to resume production. “As for the company’s nine other factories in Japan, Toyota has only said shutdowns will last at least until Saturday,” writes the Detroit News. “It will have lost production of about 140,000 vehicles by then.”
