It seems Toyota Tundra could get a pair of diesels. The V 8 4.5 L version is a no-brainer, as it’s already on sale in Australia in the new down-under Land Cruiser. That engine is expected to go into the Tundra, Sequoia, and probably our Land Cruiser and its Lexus cousin as well.
The 7.0L engine is news. If—and it’s a big “if” given the truck market these days—Toyota enters the heavy-duty truck market, it likely will need something larger than the 4.5 diesel. So news of this 7.0L engine gives one hope that that Toyota’s on-again-off-again HD truck program is back on again. Pictured is the HD concept that was shown at SEMA last fall.
