Vauxhall Astra updated Vauxhall refreshes the Astra hatchback and Sport Tourer, and added a new 192bhp BiTurbo diesel to the GTC line-up
Vauxhall has refreshed the Astra hatchback and Sport Tourer estate with an all-new look, and has introduced a 192bhp BiTurbo diesel engine to the Astra GTC range.Â
Revisions to the hatchback and Sports Tourer models are fairly modest, with the only changes coming in the form of a new front grille, fresh indicators and a new fog light design. There’s also a subtly different rear, complete with a new chrome strip.
While the exterior design of the three-door GTC remains the same, the new 2.0-litre BiTurbo diesel is the most powerful non-VXR Astra.
With 192bhp and 400Nm of torque, the BiTurbo Astra GTC can accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 139mph. Despite this performance, Vauxhall claims the BiTurbo can return 53.4mpg and boasts CO2 emissions of 139g/km.Â
Visually, the GTC BiTurbo gets bespoke 18-inch wheels, climate control, a 6mm lower ride-height and a new bodykit.Â
Along with the updates across the range comes the option for buyers to spec some new gadgets, including lane departure warning, a rear-view camera, heated seats, LED running lights.
Prices for the updated Astra hatchback and Sport Tourer models remains the same. The Astra GTC with the 2.0 BiTurbo costs £23,925 – a premium of £995 over the 163bhp 2.0-litre diesel model.
