Daily Auto News What Should Chrysler Rename the Sebring?
Daily Auto News

According to Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, the Sebring will undergo extensive revisions for the 2011 model year — including a change in nameplate.
To put it nicely, the Chrysler Sebring is one of the least liked cars in the class of affordable midsize cars. Among other things, auto writers criticize it for its underpowered engine options, poor fuel economy, subpar trunk space and cheap plasticy interior. “To say that the current Sebring has been a weak offering in Chrysler’s lineup is an understatement; it has positively tanked in a volatile market,” writes Left Lane News.
The 2010 Sebring ranks 20 out of 21 affordable midsize cars in U.S. News’ rankings.
Chrysler, however, is making a solid attempt to improve its lineup, sell more cars and pull itself out of bankruptcy. Wards Auto reports, “The beleaguered Chrysler Sebring is among nine vehicles that will benefit this calendar year from upgrades so significant the automaker calls them ‘new.’” Among those to be revised are the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Fiat 500.
Still, critics remain skeptical. “We don’t think the name had much to do with Sebring’s failure, but we understand the desire to convince buyers that the replacement is a fresh start for this mid-size sedan, if not for Chrysler as a whole,” writes Autoblog. “A thoroughly reworked Sebring, however, might not be enough to capture new buyers if the name association is still so unpalatable. Maybe they should call it the Camry.”
A new name has yet to be chosen. Feel free to leave your recommendations in the comment section below.
